Welcome to my Web site.

Hello, I'm Ingrid. So glad you are taking the
time to look at my site. When inspiration hits
I enjoy illustrating, designing invitations, painting,
sewing dresses for my daughter and baking.

Portraiture, especially of those dear to me, is
a painting subject that I really find challenging
and exciting. To capture a likeness is a thrill,
but I also want to explore the heightened color
palette that I discover when really look at my
subject.

I work in two styles of illustration, one is cut
paper in the Scherenschnitte style. I don't
use the traditional scissors, but an X-Acto
knife to cut my folded mirror images.
The other is a watercolor underpainting with
colored pencil accents.

When the well runs dry and I am uninspired, I
enjoy reading a great book, pouring through
magazines, eating chocolate and chatting to
friends on the phone.

I majored in Illustration and I have a BFA from
Rhode Island School of Design. I've worked for
Silver Burdett and Ginn, which was an educational
division of Simon and Schuster. As well as with
Rhode Island Monthly Magazine and Portrait
commissions.

My family and I live in Wakefield, Rhode Island.
They are and have been big sources of inspiration
for my work, along with past and present pets.
